Design In Time
[1 Stark Reality, For Every Day Living]

Dear Designer,
What’s the one thing we all have, use, but can never get back once it slips through our fingers?
Time.
86,400 seconds a day
And, just think, things, thoughts, actions…are executed even between the folds of time that are represented by the unrelenting ticking of a second hand.
To one person, having in their position a palette of 86,000+ colors to work with is like jumping off of a ship to explore a new country…
…exciting, exhilarating, and energy inducing.
To another, the stacking up of regret…the failure to reach an ideal that wasn’t clear in the first place…life’s choices…there are some that are just sad about the time they’ve lost.
(I think we’ve all been there…you know…that sick feeling you’re probably experiencing in your gut right now as you read these words.)
However you feel about the time you have, there’s only one thing, 1 START REALITY, that we all have to face, and I’m here to serve it up to you today.
Ready?
Quoting the “Frozen 2” movie…Kristoff:
“We’re all going to die…”
Morbid?
No!
Just something to remember, and not forget about.
Something to use as momentum to…you know…GET GOING!!
Here’s how:
We all know our life will end someday.
(I believe we continue to live, but in a Spirit form until the resurrection…though, that’s another topic for another day…maybe.)
So, since we are not like the super heroes (though they die too)…that live even though they should have died in almost every scene…
Since we are not invincible, and if we have “things to accomplish,”
…then, we might take a second look at our trajectory.
None of us know when our final hours will slip through our fingers.
No matter what age you are, there’s no telling how many more days you have.
In fact, this was one of the #1 concepts that inspired Steve Jobs to take action today.
So, in this week’s issue, I decided to simplify…
…get conversational…
…and send a reminder that, you’ve got to get moving.
And, that’s when life gets exciting.
You can do anything.
Do you “believe you can fly” too?
I do.
You see, part of designing, or redesigning life, your life, is all about having the right perspective.
Here’s a final thought:
In June of 2023, I got a really bad soar throat, probably laryngitis or strep…
…now, my singing voice isn’t the same.
(I got a degree in vocal performance and plan on singing and sharing my music in the future.)
But…now my voice isn’t the same.
You see, one example of life throwing a curve ball.
You just never know what’s “around the river bend.”
So…
grab a notebook or journal or Notion document.
write down what you want to accomplish in 2025, in the next 3 years, 5 years, 10 years, or in life.
Pick the ones that, if accomplished, would be the most meaningful.
Then, slap on some deadlines to some of those important life objectives.
And, start breaking down your goals to months, weeks, and days.
Then post all this up on a wall somewhere.
And, tell someone about it to gain support.
You are tremendous.
There is much to do.
Make it happen.
Make no small plans.
Because, there are…
slightly better times ahead
…on your horizon of life’s greatest gifts.
Keep designing,
Josh
P.S. I’ve get to get to it so…I didn’t take the time to edit. (apologies if you find any errors or sloppy word choices.)
